While having a saunter through the hallways of my cranium this morning, a thought struck me. No, it didn’t jump out and smack me in the head, although that would most definitely have been a possibility given that the dust bunnies can be rather sneaky and cunning. The safari for those elusive, yet prolific, creatures has proven to be more of a challenge than considered. Yet I digress….
The thought that struck me was this: “Life may seem like a list of dos and don’ts, but sometimes you have to do the don’ts because, in some cases, the don’ts can become dos.” While you’re scratching your noggin in ponderance, or scratching wherever it is you scratch when pondering, permit me to provide an example…Years ago, even before I was born (gasping in shock is not the reaction I was going for here, thank you VERY much), sailors were told that the earth was flat so don’t go puttering off out of sight or you’ll fall off into the whatever lies beyond the beyond.
But, typical of people in general, if you tell them not to do something, they’re going to do it just because. And they did. Now, that particular don’t has become a do.
My challenge to you today, if you choose to be brave enough to accept it and have your passport current and your luggage is clean, is to do something that you’ve been told don’t. I would strongly advise against such don’ts as bank robbery, shooting anyone, or any such violent endeavors. Keep it simple and just be weird!
